2D Backgrounds and thumbnail

I needed some background referances for my Kuru Kuru Kururin-type maze game, and so i looked at some 2D backgrounds for general artwork and scenery design.

I found these 6 backgrounds which i took a liking to and i plan on using them as a point of referance for my own background.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I made two hand drawn thumbnails for my potential level  backgrounds. I know you might not be able to tell what it is but its a road, since my game theme is abot a riot happening in a city.

Overwatch – Route 66

I think Overwatch’s Route 66 map is a good inspiration for cartoony western themed graphics. The colour scheme has a more warm and dusty look to it.
